Royal Blood have asked their fans to sign a petition against ticket touts.

The Brighton duo, which is comprised of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, posted a statement on their website today (May 11) encouraging people to support a move to stop secondary ticketing.

As DIY reports, the pair describe the “ecstatic feeling” of announcing a tour as “short-lived”.

The statement read: “In the last two years of touring we have seen first-hand how our fans have experienced problems caused by the unscrupulous actions of professional ticket touts. The ecstatic feeling of announcing and putting a tour on sale is short-lived when we immediately see that these tickets are marked up at a staggering increase and listed on secondary ticketing websites.”

It continued: “The plague of ticket touts who harvest huge volumes of tickets online and then immediately sell them at many times the face value must stop.”

The band and others in the music industry are aiming to get 100,000 signatures on the petition – the number of supporters needed to pressurise the government into considering the movement.
