Arkells have now received a total of five Juno Awards. This year they took home the award for Rock Album of the Year for “Rally Cry.” This among 36 other awards were announced at the gala dinner at the London Convention Center attended by roughly 1,500 members of the Canadian music industry.
Along with the band receiving Rock Album of the Year, Eric Ratz received producer of the year for the work he did on the Arkells “Rally Cry.”
When the band went on stage to accept their rock award they generously brought up Indigenous Album of the year winner Jeremy Dutcher. Earlier that evening Dutcher’s passionate acceptance speech was cut short and the band felt he should have the chance to finish.
“Jeremy didn’t get a chance to finish,” Arkells singer Max Kerman told the crowd. “So he’s going to finish.”
Arkells have a chance to raise their total to six Sunday night when the Group of the Year is announced.
