Red Sun Rising is making a little pit stop in Syracuse this Friday. The band kicked off their tour earlier this month in Louisiana and is generous enough to stop along the way to perform at Lost Horizon. The band will be joined by Goodbye June, Dirty Money and My Manic Mind.
The band recently release their four-track EP “Peel” featuring a cover of The Beach Boys hit “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” which might sound familiar because of its use in the movie “50 First Dates.”
The Beach Boys along with The Beatles were some of the bands biggest influences for their tracks on the EP. The EP consists of cover tracks of songs fans will know well along with reworked versions of popular songs from Red Sun Rising like “Left For Dead,” “The Otherside” and “Blister.”
For these new tracks, the band members aim to focus on the lyrics and tone of the songs. Vocalist Mike Protich and his fellow bandmates start off with an acoustic guitar and focus heavily on the melody that way they can take a step back and go over old tracks with a new ear. This allows the band to really connect more with the songs.
“We’ve been writing like crazy and there’s already a lot of great ideas,” Protich said. “I guess a new record will be on the horizon at some point, we have to get these out.”
