Grohl Not On Board With Hits Package

Dave Grohl, who fronts the Foo Fighters but is currently keeping time with supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, has said his main group's recently-issued Greatest Hits album feels "premature," adding that it almost feels like he's shut the door on that chapter.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Grohl admitted that the album, which hit stores on November 2nd, resulted more from contractual obligations with SonyBMG than any band ordained decision.

"It still seems premature because we're still a functioning, active band," said Grohl. "Those things can look like an obituary. We were asked to do this a long time ago. We wrote it into a deal a long time ago – that's how it works."

The legendary rocker also expressed he wasn't fully satisfied with the tracklist.

"They [Sony] started asking about four years ago, and we said, 'Don't we need some hits?' It's like a CliffsNotes [study guides] version of what we've been doing for the last 15 years. I think there are better songs than some of those."

Grohl's latest band, Them Crooked Vultures, drops their debut album on November 17th.
